Catch a Moment

A camera I bought today

A could this be my forte’

So much beauty to capture

To fill fellow hearts with rapture

Where to begin, where to start

To maintain the life in God’s art

A little humming bird drinking nectar

Flowers! the perfect sector

The dew upon a strawberry blossom

Down lights a bumble bee, truly awesome

The many trees in all their glory

Can I do justice to this story

The sun on the surf of the ocean

Little camera capture this motion

So many sights and pictures to take

How do I turn this thing on for goodness sake! Continue Reading

Uninvited Guests

The hard questions greet me

in this empty apartment. They enter and occupy

the places where her furniture used to be;

or, perhaps, they were already here? Either way, they’re

uninvited guests

in a place that doesn’t even belong to me.

And they have no place to sit,

instead finding adequate furnishings

in my apparently table and chair mind.

Down the brief hallway

the washing machine spins, for the last time,

consuming these questions. Other clothes and thoughts

tumble dry, as does my soul, now arid,

without adequate answers

for the hard Continue Reading

Defining the difference between personal values and personal beliefs

In a world where values and beliefs are often so tightly interwoven, we need to take a step backward in order to define the differences between the two ideas. While who we are and what we hold dear help to define both personal values and personal beliefs, there are also distinct differences between the two.

Personal beliefs are statements, principles or doctrines that individuals choose to accept as true. While others may argue their credibility, if an individual genuinely believes in a cause or a feeling, it can be credited as a personal belief. Some parents, for example, strongly believe that children should attend all day/every day kindergarten. They will argue that children who are in this regimented routine will learn more and therefore be better prepared for first grade. Continue Reading

How to teach children about personal hygiene

Personal hygiene is a very important factor for a healthy life. For growing children, personal hygiene is very important. It doesn’t only make them comfortable but it also teaches them to do what is right at an early stage. Early hygiene enhancement gives the child a more healthy and comfortable life and will learn to be hygienic up to the time the child grows old.

To teach children hygiene, start from yourself. Set an example for the children to follow. Do not teach children about hygiene when you yourself looks messy. Always teach something to children that you yourself are an example. Make yourself clean and practice personal hygiene so that the children will follow you. Children imitate what they see around them and the person teaching must make sure that she Continue Reading

Poetry: Personal growth – Part 44

Bella had lost her sweater.

She was thirty percent sure it was on the train, ten percent sure she had lost it on purpose, and sixty percent sure she would be grounded for this.

The sweater in question was a hand knitted, nauseating creation sent to her by stepmother’s father, in an attempt to create a bond between them. As far as Bella was concerned, the attempt was failed; and the bond waswell, nonexsistent.

It wasn’t that the knitting was bad, per say, (even though most stitches were uneven) and it wasn’t really the kind of sweater. It was hip- length and fitted, with small round buttons, which reminded her of raisins, going down her chest. It would have all been fine and dandy, had it not been for the color. A putrid greenish-orange that Continue Reading
